Next week, on Monday, February 23, Not in our Name ! We, the undersigned, citizens of Israel, completely reject the Sharon government's claim that the "Separation Fence" which is being built in the occupied territories is intended to defend our safety and security. This fence is being built deep inside the Palestinian territory. It is cutting through towns and villages, it is destroying and confiscating fields and olive groves, it separates etween farmers and their lands, between pupils and their schools, between ill people and hospitals, and it turns the life of a whole population into hell. This fence is annexing settlements to Israel and imprisons the Palestinians in enclaves, with the aim of preventing any possibility of creating a viable Palestinian state – and at the same time wasting milliards from the empry treasury of the state of Israel, at the very time that the welfare budgets are crually slashed, terribly hurting the poor and disadvantaged in Israeli society. This is not the way to prevent suicide bombings – it is a way to further aggravate the misery, the despair and hatred and perpetuate the conflict for further generations. Today we say to the government of Israel: you are not building this evil wall in our name! The true way to end the suicide bombings and bloodshed is by an agreement which will end the oiccupation and oppression from which the bloodshed stems. |
ביום שני הקרוב, 23 לפברואר, יתחיל בית הדין הבינלאומי בהאג לדון בנושא "חומת ההפרדה". באותו יום מתכוונת הקואליציה של ארגוני השלום לפרסם עצומה של אזרחים ישראלים נגד החומה בעיתון "הארץ" בעברית ובאנגלית, שנוסחה מופיע להלן. אם ברצונכם להצטרף לעצומה, אנא חתמו עליה ובמקביל שילחו תרומה (רצוי כ100- ש"ח), בצ'ק לפקודת "עיתון הארץ" לכתובת: ת.ד. 2030 ירושלים 91020 לא בשמנו! אנו החתומים מטה, אזרחי ישראל, דוחים מכל וכל את טענתה של ממשלת שרון כאילו "גדר ההפרדה" המוקמת בשטחים הכבושים מיועדת להגן על שלומנו ובטחוננו. הגדר הזאת נבנית בעומק השטח הפלסטיני, חותכת ערים וכפרים, הורסת וגוזלת שדות ומטעי זיתים, מפרידה בין חקלאים לאדמתם, בין תלמידים ובית ספרם ובין חולים לבית החולים והופכת חיי אוכלוסיה שלמה לגיהנום. הגדר מספחת התנחלויות וכולאת את הפלסטינים במובלעות, ומיועדת למנוע כל אפשרות להקמת מדינה פלסטינית בעלת כושר קיום - וכל זאת תוך בזבוז אדיר של מיליארדים מקופתה הריקה של מדינת ישראל, בו בזמן שמוטלות גזירות אכזריות הפוגעות פגיעה אנושה בעניים ובשכבות החלשות. זו אינה הדרך למנוע פיגועים - זוהי דרך להחריף עוד יותר את המצוקה, היאוש והשנאה ולהנציח את הסכסוך לדורי דורות. היום הזה אנו אומרים לממשלת ישראל: !את חומת הרשע הזאת אינכם בונים בשמנו הדרך האמיתית לסיום הפיגועים ושפיכות הדמים היא בהסכם שיביא לסיום הכיבוש והדיכוי המולידים אותם. |
