Dear Prime Minister Sharon:
.
As a citizen of the United States of America, a country which greatly supports the
state of Israel, I wish to voice my concern over legal proceedings being taken against
the peace group Gush-Shalom.. Most of the world is greatly concerned about the
escalating violence in Israel and pray that peace will soon come..
.
However, the civilized nations of the world expect the rules of the Geneva
Convention to be followed.. It seems highly suspicious when a government seeks to
supress a peace group from urging soldiers to keep their calm and not resort to
human rights violation in the course of their duties.. Censoring media and limiting their
access to military zones also creates much suspicion upon the government of Israel..
If the Israeli government is innocent of humanitarian violations, why not allow free
press coverage and a free voice to national and international peace groups?.
.
I urge you to drop charges against Gush-Shalom and to reign in any Israeli military
officers who may have committed actions which broke the Geneva Convention, or
who have boasted of such actions, whether real or not.
.
Shalom,
.
